Review: Ricochet by Skye Jordan

After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to his first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.

Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.

MY REVIEW

Ricochet by Skye Jordan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 unbelievably explosive STARS

God, I'm in love with this series. I would read a hundred more books like this, just because they are all together fabulous...well written, sexy, funny, emotional....

Ricochet is the last one of the Renegades for now... there are boys left, so I'm hoping Ms. Jordan will be so kind as to deliver some more alpha-stuntmen goodness. I'll be waiting over here in my little corner of the world...eating triple chocolate ice cream.

“I can’t wait to get my mouth on you,” he whispered, kissing her temple, her hair. “Lick you everywhere … Thank God we have all night, because before the sun comes up, baby, I’m going to have tasted every…literal…inch of you.”

Master Sergent Nathan Jefferson Ryker is an Army Ranger and over the last sixteen years he has seen a lot of bad things. During his last tour something truly horrifying happened and he was sent home to get his head on straight. There is after all only so much a human being can take. His cure of choice is booze and women...yeah that always works.

While on leave his best friend Troy, one of the Renegades stuntmen, convinces him to take on a stunt job for the new Bond film the guys are working on. Thanks to his background with explosives Ryker could be helpful to blow up a bridge.

Guess who is supposed to pick him up from the airport. Oh, you know it...it's little miss organized and efficient.

“The mere feel of her lips sent a wash of relief through his entire body. She was better than any drug. Better than bottles of vodka. Better than mindless sex with any bar chick.Everything about her was instantly familiar, yet amplified by his need.”

Rachel Hart is the heart of the Renegades. She loves her job; she is the secretary, the office manager, the go to girl in a crisis. For Jax and the boys Rachel is irreplaceable and that is why she is off limits for everyone. Not that she has any interest in a hook-up with the guys. She sees them as her brothers, but nothing more and some bad experiences in the past don't help much either.

“I don't want complicated. I don't want forever. I just want simple. No strings.I'm offering you exactly what you want. No-strings, no-shame, no-limits, no-complications, wicked-good sex. Complete with a agreed-upon end date, a vow of secrecy, and an eight-thousand-mile anti-stalking guarantee when it's over.”

But that doesn't mean a girl doesn't have needs. When she is supposed to pick Ryker up from the airport some bad traffic and slight miscommunication ensue and they end up missing each other. To cool down and collect her poor nerves Rachel gets a drink at the bar and meets Nathan...a mysterious stranger.

*drum roll*

She takes him to a hotel. No, you don't say? She did? That's kind of awesome. Yes, very awesome and steamy as hell and all kinds of HAWT!!

“Jesus, that man really fucks. He's focused, absorbed, almost...""Obsessed?" Rubi supplied in the same hushed tone."Totally. It's enthralling. All encompassing. Like nothing else exists." She sighed, letting the delicious memory wash through her. "Un-fucking-forgettable."

Of course Nathan and Ryker is the same person, but only she doesn't know that. Came as a bit of a shock the next day when he turned up at her office. ;D Even bigger shock when she found out he knew who Rachel was all along.

This is where the fun begins...a little game of cat and mouse...mixed in with some hide and seek and of course my all time favourite... hide the nookie.

But Ricochet isn't just a book about romance and sex. It's about friendship, trust, loyalties and most importantly about Ryker's struggles with PTSD. He is a broken man and it is really interesting to see how he tries to keep his life together. Question is can he do it without help?

“I’m a fucking train wreck, baby, I admit it. But … I want to be better. I want to be the kind of man you need.”

Ms. Jordan's books are a guaranteed auto-buy for me from now on. There are no two ways about it. I love the world she created. The character feel real and very well developed. I fall in love with them every single time and I always have a hard time putting the books down.

Please give me more?! :D
