“One of these days, we will get this right.”
That was a fun read. I have to say I was a bit worried after finishing Finley if Derek and Jordan could work for me as a couple, but I really enjoyed their relationship and the whole unlikely pair thing they had going on.
Devil’s Kiss is a M/M romance, with two openly gay characters. It spans over a time period of eleven years, starting parallel to Finley, when Derek and Jordan met at college. Jordan being the eccentric and genius young Professor and Derek the rebellious and troubled student with a bad home life. Their love story is not straightforward, there is a huge amount of time jumps in this book, showing how their hate/love friendship eventually turns into an actual relationship. It's a slow build to say the least.
But despite the ups and downs, and lack of communication over the years, there is always a strong bond and sense of trust between them. Especially Derek relies on Jordan when things get rough and those are some of my favourite parts to read.
The book can be read as a standalone, but giving the first book in the series a try is not a bad idea. The writing has a nice flow, the characters are entertaining, maybe the structure and time jumps get a bit much after a while, but overall I really enjoyed the story.
