A sweet and steamy New Adult Romance from Amazon bestselling author of the Ruthless People series, J.J. McAvoy…

After an erotic one-week fling with a musician she meets in a bar, Thea Cunning never expects to see Levi Black again. Then Monday morning comes around, and she discovers that her former lover is not only her professor, but he’s also one of the top criminal lawyers in the state of Massachusetts.

With everyone in class vying to be one of the twelve disciples—a group of twelve students that Professor Black takes under his wing—tensions run high. Thea considers dropping his class, given their passionate week together and their undeniable chemistry. After all, there are other (less infuriatingly sexy) law professors on campus.

But to accomplish her goal and get her father out of prison, Thea knows she needs to learn under the best of the best—and that’s Levi Black.
But can she learn under the best, without being under the best?

SANDY’S REVIEW

Black Rainbow by J.J. McAvoy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“You are not a black rainbow. I see every one of your colors.”
Black Rainbow isn’t something new or unique, I’ve heard and seen similar kind of stories or parts of it before but what makes it special is the characters-Levi and Thea. The beginning of the story mostly kept jumping between past and present, past-when they were still strangers, decided to have a week long sex with no strings attached and present-when reality strikes hard where Levi is being a ruthless professor and Thea happens to be his student.

In all honesty I had given up at this point when the story wasn’t going anywhere, either they were horny all the time or they were into pissing contest with each other. After a gap of 7 days I picked it up from where I'd left (I blame “The Walking Dead” for the delay, this show is ridiculously addictive!!) and this time I loved every bit of it! maybe watching too many Zombies does that you *lol*. Anyway as the story progressed they started to grow on me- their banters, witty dialogues and romance had me laughing, giggling and swooning all the while. It’s been so long since I read about strong couples, both stubborn, intelligent, confident, determined, compassionate and insatiable. I loved their transformation from just being a fling to falling in love, they were truly an amazing couple and I could hear them talk all day long! While I loved their passion and steaming chemistry, sex for most parts just felt like fillers.

This is my very first book from J.J. McAvoy (thanks Cristina for the rec! xo) and for sure it’s not going to be the last. Her writing is refreshing, smart and hilarious. This woman definitely knows to write a hot, cocky, drool worthy, intimidating alpha male who wears glasses!!! *fans self*. For all those ladies who goes weak at their knees for jerks with softer side you got to meet PROFESSOR BLACK.

What I liked most was that the story didn’t leave any loopholes, 70% of the book was only about Levi and Thea’s growing relationship and their insecurities but the story took a surprising turn and it ended with a bang. The author managed to balance the story between the romance and mystery very well.

My favorite quote:
“Star light, star bright, the many stars I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, keep this girl for the rest of my life”
P.S: If you planning on reading this book don’t you EVER read this in your work place, trust me you do not want to be get THAT look from your colleagues every time you giggle or blush at your laptop screen!
