ARC Review: The Score by Elle Kennedy

Title: The Score
Author: Elle Kennedy
Series: Off-Campus #3
Genre: new adult, contemporary romance, sport
He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

FLO'S REVIEW

The Score by Elle Kennedy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 **tequila** STARS

“I’m Dean Di Laurentis, for fuck’s sake. I can snap my fingers and a dozen chicks appear, begging to ride my dick.”

Well, it's official I have my first book for the “best of 2016” shelf. What a gem. Hilarious, sexy and just one of those books you have to read. The hype is real and well deserved.

Kudos to Ms. Kennedy. She had a very good run with the Off-Campus series so far. The Deal was one of my 2015 favorites and The Mistake was an ok read as well. But The Score and Dean Di Laurentis take the cake. Seriously, probably the best one yet.

An unapologetic and highly intelliegent manwhore and hockey player, with a rich family and a rather sweet life. But don't hold it against him. This jock will steal your will, capture your heart and melt your panties with dirty talk. Yes, he is that good.

“It’ll be fun. Sex is always fun.”
“Pass.”
“Okay, no sex. How about just oral?”
“Am I giving or receiving?”
“Receiving. And then giving. Because that’s how it goes.” “You know, the circle of life and all that.”

The life of Dean is really rather exceptional, that is until one day he is forced to babysitt his best friend's girlfriend's best friend Allie, after she broke up with her longtime boyfriend. Tequila happens, the rest is history and poor Dean gets in way over his head. Add to that a new hockey coach and the world might just tumble a little.

Allie is amazing. Just to put that out there. I have been talking about Dean and I completely forgot to give her credit. She is a strong character, experienced, strong willed and determined. A drama major and aspiring actress who can more than hold her own next to the cocky playboy. Gives as good as she gets and doesn't take any bullshit.

Allie and Dean are amazing together, the banter alone should win them prizes. But I can not lie they were also a completely surprise. When I first realized Hannah's best friend would be his love interest I was shocked to say the least. But it turned to be just the right combination. The fact that their friends are so intertwined with one another means a lot of secrecy and hidden sexy times. Oh the fun of it. I could read it again right now.

“I mean you’re facing a Jacob quandary. You imprinted on her pussy, and now it’s the only pussy you can think about. You exist solely for this pussy. Like Jacob and that weird mutant baby.”

What else can I say about this book? I laughed out loud. I had tears running down my face because of my laughing fits. It's so highly quotable, I had a hard time deciding on three to add to this review. Elle Kennedy has a masterful way of writing new adult college romance. And I should know, I avoid that genre as much as I can. But she gets me every time with her Off-Campus series.

But it's not all laughs and good times. There are enough real life decisions and obstacles to manage that it feels real enough in the end. Life isn't sunshine and daisies, and they are no exception no matter how blessed their lives seem sometimes.

Really an amazing book and series not only for lovers of college themed romance. A funny light hearted read, that pulls on your heartstrings and melts your panties in the meantime.

Go read...when it comes out in January. ;) Oh how I love to be a blogger sometimes.
