Appearing on this weeks #ThrowbackThrusday is Taut: The Ford Book by Author J. A. Huss. Taut is the spin off of the Rook & Ronin series, of which I was unaware, I became the victim of the alluring blurb and read this book ASAP! But that didn't throw me off, though Ford appears on R&R series this is not related to it anyway, except the 'prologue'. Told from Ford's POV, this is a simple yet engrossing story of two strangers stranded on a snowy mountains, and their journey of moving on, feeling alive, finding love and happiness in an unexpected place.
Title: Taut: The Ford Book
Author: J.A. Huss
Series: Rook and Ronin Spinoff
Genre: Contemporary romance, erotica
Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.
And after Rook broke his heart, he plans to keep it that way.
Ashleigh is known for nothing, and that's exactly what she's got going for her. She's broke, stranded in the mountains with a three month old baby, and Ford Aston is screwing with her head.
Big. Time.
And she plans to mess with his right back.
It's a coy game at first, filled with flirting, and innuendo--but Ford soon realizes something is not quite right with Ashleigh. In fact, something is seriously, seriously wrong and the closer they get to their final destination, the closer Ford gets to the truth.
One night of devastation, self-loathing, and emptiness turns into the best thing that ever happened to Ford Aston. But one day of in-your-face reality threatens Ashleigh's whole existence.
*Ford first appears in Rook and Ronin #2, Manic. He has a bigger role in Panic, R&R #3, and then he has a novella, called SLACK. This TAUT book is only FORD. It's not really part of the R&R series, as that plot has all been sidelined for this one romance book.*

SANDY’S REVIEW
Taut: The Ford Book by J.A. Huss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“Love might be a risk, but I’m all about risk-management.”
It may sound weird but I haven’t read Rook & Ronin series! I jumped into this book thinking it’s a standalone and characters are new! But Ford was part of the series and this is said in his POV just after he broke his friendship with Rook and takes off without letting anyone know where he is going! Ford’s relationship with Rook, why she chose Ronin, how much they all mean to him was made clear was shown in glimpses So I didn’t feel lost.
This story is about two strangers getting stranded in the snowy mountain. Ashleigh with three months old baby Kate leans on Ford when he offers to help her. Ford is in a situation where he can’t go back to his old life where people think he is emotionless and definitely not to his friends, so he seeks for a company and decides to help Ashleigh reach her destiny. So they start a journey together to LA. This road trip changes both of them, They develop trust and understanding. Ashleigh helps Ford come out of his shell, she brings out goodness in him, sees him for what he is smart, kind and generous human being not a freak like others think he is! Ford for the first time is comfortable with somebody's closeness, he sees new life, happiness in Ashleigh and Kate and dreams a family of his own with them. But what he doesn’t know is Ash’s past and why is she alone with the baby? He lost his love once and doesn't want to lose it again, he decides to fight for her, for his family. The big question is what does Ashleigh wants??
“I love you. I’m in, Ashleigh. I want you, I want Kate, I want this. I want to sleep with you every night and give you everything”
I expected it to be hardcore BDSM but turns out slight bondage, lot of romance, flirting, wooing and love. Even though Ford’s lifestyle includes bondage Ash is not a submissive, she doesn't see pain as pleasure but still willing to please him, she's a rebel strong, smart, kind, selfless, funny and naughty at times, I loved her!. There were some funny moments when Ash begs him for sex while he denies it most of the time. I loved his bonding Kate and how much he loved them in matter of a week!
Writing was great, I loved this story so much! It’s simple yet engrossing.
